NATIONAL cyclist Rizal Tisin suffered a fractured left ankle as a result of a hit-and-run incident in Sri Petaling yesterday.
Rizal, 24, was riding his motorcycle with national team mechanic Mohd Zaki Abdul Aziz riding pillion, when they were knocked down near the BHPetrol station in Sri Petaling by a silver Proton Waja.
The car was driven by a woman. Mohd Zaki escaped unhurt.
World Championships bronze medallist Rizal, will undergo surgery on his ankle today and is expected to be out of action for three weeks.
"I will have to delay my World Cup season till maybe the last round in Beijing in March because of this. It is unfortunate, but at least the doctor informed me that it isn't very serious and I'll be able to recover quite quickly," said Rizal.
Rizal was due to return to the national elite squad's training base in Melbourne on Oct 20, which has now been postponed.
Number plate that car: WKA 2633, Proton Waja silver
